In January 2026, Dr. Nina Ahuja took the stage at TEDxQueen’sU to explore what it means to build cultures of reliable respect — and why respect is not soft, but foundational to performance, trust, and long-term success.
Drawing from her experience in surgery, medical education, and leadership, the talk reflects on how moments shape identity, and how the ripple effects of behavior can either strengthen or erode culture.
The talk is currently in post-production and will be released on the official TEDx platform soon.
Official release expected Spring 2026
Helping You Lead With Clarity, Calm, and Confidence - When the Stakes Are High
Dr. Nina Ahuja is an accomplished surgeon, award-winning educator, international speaker, bestselling author, and nationally recognized leader in emotionally intelligent, neuroscience-informed leadership. She is the creator of the Depth Perception Leadership™ model, her proprietary framework designed to help professionals lead with clarity, courage, and grounded presence when the stakes are high. Through her work, Dr. Ahuja equips leaders, educators, and healthcare professionals with tools to perform under pressure, strengthen resilience, and foster cultures of reliable respect by responding and not reacting.

As a surgeon and educator, I’ve spent over two decades navigating high-stakes moments, whether in the operating room, advancing medical education, or leading national advocacy. Along the way, I’ve seen firsthand how stress and uncertainty shape performance, decision-making, team dynamics, and well-being.
That experience led me to found Docs in Leadership Inc. in 2019, an initiative created to provide physicians, healthcare professionals, and medical trainees with formalized leadership education, something largely absent from traditional training. This work became the foundation for Depth Perception Leadership™, a neuroscience-informed model that integrates proprietary frameworks I first introduced in my bestselling book, Stress in Medicine.
Today, this approach supports professionals in healthcare and beyond to regulate emotions, respond instead of react, and lead with clarity and calm under pressure—especially during moments of conflict and uncertainty.
My work now spans national leadership, keynote speaking, and thought-leadership writing. I share practical tools and insights through platforms including my YouTube channel, Psychology Today blog, and stages around the world. I also continue to contribute to healthcare advocacy, including testifying before the Canadian Senate in support of Bill C-284 and serving as President-Elect of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society.
Dr. Nina Ahuja is a nationally recognized leader in medical education and physician well-being. As a seasoned ophthalmic surgeon, medical educator, and founder of Docs in Leadership, she is dedicated to equipping healthcare trainees and professionals with the skills and confidence to thrive—both in medicine and in life.
