What began as an exploration of stress in medicine evolved into a deeper understanding of how leaders think, respond, and shape the environments around them.

As an HR consultant who works directly with leaders in Healthcare, I can attest that this is a very important book and topic, particularly during these stressful times.

Dr. Ahuja is an excellent writer, combining relevant, practical advice with personal stories at each stage of her career - from being a medical student to running her own practice. She's particularly skilled at empathizing with the reader, assuring them that she's 'been in their shoes', and providing an intimate and honest account of her feelings at various points. She also describes insightful perspectives on stressful situations, including a useful framework for managing anxiety that's easy to remember and practice.

This is a must read book for anyone in a stressful workplace (not only healthcare!) particularly where they may have necessary support or encouragement for dealing with workplace-related anxieties.

This early framework laid the groundwork for what would later evolve into Depth Perception Leadership™—a broader model for leading with clarity, regulation, and respect under pressure.
